Cluster Server technology keeps your application running when the server is a critical error occurs

When an organization is reliable IT infrastructure resources and downtime is not acceptable for business production, technology deployment, fault-tolerant server as the group is a necessity for companies today. If the server is down, business stops. Therefore, server clustering technology are solutions that must be taken to keep your business running if a non-critical servers.

Clustering

Clustering technology is a fault-tolerant servers in Windows Server 2003 (and later) that are dedicated to running one or more applications by configuring two or more application servers is to provide Fault Tolerance and load balancing. If a server fails, the other server will take over the function of maintaining operational application. This is the concept of fault tolerance for server clustering technology.

Cluster Server Technology

In Windows 2003 Server and later, There are two types of server technology for fault tolerance: Cluster Server and Network Load Balancing (NLB). The difference between the two technologies is in the types of applications to be executed by the servers and the types and characteristics of the data they use.

Network Load Balancing (NLB)

Network Load Balancing (NLB) is one server redundancy offered by Microsoft, which is easy to install, manage and maintain. You can use the hardware and software available on the servers with no additional software or hardware. You can use the application available in Windows 2003 "transmission network load balancing" to create, manage and monitor the NLBS. NLB especially memory performance of stateless applications, applications that data is not changing all the time.

Network load balancing works by creating a virtual network adapter in each node that represents a single group entity. has separate virtual adapter address IP and MAC address of each different IP addresses given to each server interfaces. Customers will have access to the virtual IP address instead of accessing each of the server nodes.

If a request comes from one client to the IP address of the cluster, all cluster nodes in the system receive and process the message. In each of the nodes in the NLB cluster, NLB service will operate as a filter between the adapter and the computer group TCP / IP. This filter allows for NLB calculation when deciding which cluster node in the system will respond to the request. Each node in the cluster is not necessary for the communication. Each independent node will calculate it and make their own decision whether to answer customers' request or not. The formula calculation shall only be modified if the number of server nodes changes.

Cluster Server

The other types of technology Server fault tolerance is Cluster Server is designed for data applications that are sufficiently large and change frequently and are often called applications state and contain databases including Microsoft SQL Server, Exchange Server, file servers and printers. All cluster nodes in the system are connected to a set data and share a single SCSI bus or SAN (storage area network). All nodes have the same access to the same application and each node can also process the request Customer at all times. You can configure each of the nodes to be active or passive. The active node can receive client requests, while the passive node is idle and according to the "failover" when the active node is failure.

• Similar to the NLB, server group also has the name independent and separate IP address for each of the IP addresses of the nodes. Therefore, when the active node fails, the clients do not need to know what is happening in the system. Customers still access the same name and same IP address because the system is back to normal before using the machine on hold. If many servers clustered node X, node survival will take over the failed server.

• Up up to 8 server nodes to work as failover and failback of each. Failback is configured default, you must set manually or automatically.
• Cluster Server requires special drive, such as Fibre Channel, SCSI shared or SAN. Channel Fiber is a high speed up to 100 Mbps standard network technology using full-duplex communication. But SCSI signal technology used in parallel.
• Normally used for SQL databases, Microsoft Exchange, file and print server, etc.

X Node Clustering

In the X group node can create a minimum of 2 nodes and to the failover node than 8 / failback cluster. Years ago I read Jeffrey Ullman’s “Principles of Database Systems”, which concentrated heavily on relational calculus. Prof. Ullman is a polymath who has published on topics ranging from database systems to compiler theory and design. I’ve found that his work is excellent, but not exactly light reading.

In many cases the books Prof. Ullman has co-authored lean heavily toward formalism (e.g., lots of equations.
See for example Aho, Hopcroft and Ullman’s “The Design and Analysis of Computer Algorithms”). I was pleasantly surprised to find that “Database Systems: the complete book” is extremely readable and very complete.

The first half of the book covers database systems at the high level, discussing relational and object models. Even the chapter on relational algebra is more readable that other work I’ve waded through. Every time
a concept is introduced the authors provide an example.

The second half of the book covers database implementation and architectural issues (e.g., B-trees and other data structures for fast database implementation). The sub-title (“The Complete Book”) is not an exaggeration.

It is a great pleasure to find a book that covers database systems from the user level to low level disk I/O. The authors even provide some interesting observations on commercial database trends. In the excellent chapter on the Object Definition Language (ODL) and object database systems they note that the early predictions for object database systems proved overly optimistic since these systems did not provide
users enough of an advantage over relational systems to displace these systems in the market.

The authors are professors at Stanford and this book is a college textbook. The complete coverage of database systems and the readable nature of this book makes it an excellent reference for professionals like me who took database systems long ago and need a complete current reference.

MyDatabase is a quick fix for single-employee organizations that need to organize customer lists or for individuals who need a simple organization program. It can send mass e-mail messages and create labels, envelopes, and Rolodex cards, but don't look for Web deployment, workgroup support, or programmability. Though MyDatabase is appropriate for individuals and mom-and-pop shops, midsize companies will find that their needs overwhelm this program.

After a quick installation, which can include 100 fonts and 10,000 clip-art images, you're ready to import your database or create a new one. We were surprised to discover that a product aimed at users with no database experience does not have a start-up wizard. The 12-page booklet that comes in the box isn't much of a reference; it only covers the basics, but the on-screen help is more detailed. The interface has tabs across the top for its major features: Data Entry, Data Table, Output Forms, Reports, and Email.

During setup, you can use one of MyDatabase's 20 templates (including Clients, Membership, Job Listings, and Recipes) or create your own. The program can import files from Best Software's ACT!, Borland's dBASE, Corel's Paradox, and Microsoft Excel, Access, and Visual FoxPro, as well as tab-separated and comma-separated text. Using a template is the simpler option, as creating data entry forms from scratch can be cumbersome.

The customization interface looks like an elementary image-processing app along the lines of Paint. You can add background images and colors, make drop-down lists for choices, and configure values to be text or numeric. Because MyDatabase is designed for single-user offices, it doesn't offer security features to keep other users out of proprietary data.

MyDatabase filters records to show only those that meet a given set of criteria, but don't expect to perform queries. It doesn't let you set up relationships among databases, so we were unable to complete a testing exercise that involved creating a query that gathered information from two sets of data.

Each of the preset database templates comes with a set of reports you can use to summarize the data. You can also create custom reports by checking off which of the data columns should appear on the final version.

You can easily print data from MyDatabase tables to envelopes or a variety of labels. This is where the library of clip art and fonts comes in, letting you create a signature style on your stationery. You can also send mass e-mail messages with MyDatabase, calling on your customer databases for contact information. Before you do this, you'll need to enter your own e-mail and server information. After that, just click on the e-mail tab to begin designing a message.

Small businesses or individuals who need an organizational tool but are put off by more complex databases will find MyDatabase a good entry-level solution. But its limited feature set means it won't grow with your company.

Borland's Paradox offers not only a great deal of raw data-processing power but an impressive array of ancillary tools. Paradox is at the low-cost end of the big relational-database programs. Nevertheless, it matches or exceeds the others in most categories of data management.

Like the other popular large-scale database-management systems (for example, dBase, Clarion, Dataease, R:base), Paradox has gone through several improvements and expansions. Paradox has always been a good database manager, and comes close to being spectacular: richly appointed, speedy in most operations, with a short learning curve for basic database development.

The creation of a database couldn't be simpler--just enter the Create submenu and start filling in the table. Since the program prompts you at every stage in the process, you should have no difficulty setting up your first database moments after you've installed the program, itself a nearly automatic process.

Since a relational database can establish links among multiple tables or data sets, one measure of the power of such a program is its capacity. A single Paradox database--to which up to 15 forms and 15 reports may be attached--can contain as many as 262,000,000 characters in 255 fields. Up to 24 of these potentially humongous tables can be opened for use at the same time. Paradox returns answers to queries almost instantly.

Querying Data. For the nonprofessional programmer, however, Paradox's great strength is in its QBE (query-by-example) front end, the point at which you interact directly with your stored data. When you start a Paradox QBE, you're presented with a blank table containing the columnar headings of the table(s) you are querying. Instead of writing a statement in the program's query language, you merely check the columns you wish to combine into a new table. To fine-tune the query, you can add to the check mark a variety of relational operators (greater than, less than, and a number of others). So from a table containing a client list and one containing orders, you can QBE a new table containing, perhaps, a list of clients from a given zip code whose purchases within a given period lie within a given dollar amount. Further, the Paradox system allows for the quickest and easiest "what-ifs" around. Just check and play. Nothing becomes permanent until you issue the command. And even then, you can edit and reorganize to your heart's content.

For those with an interest in programming and with a need to develop, for example, specialized database applications that can be supplied to clients as executable (stand-alone) programs, the Paradox Application Language (PAL) and associated utilities will supply everything you'll need. The language itself resembles Pascal and C, but it contains a large stock of commands, functions, and operators specifically concerned with Paradox data structures.

For a single-user environment, Paradox may seem like overkill. In all likelihood, a home office will not require a network capability, which this program provides. But while I don't need many of Paradox's goodies--yet--I've made it part of my own home office. So, if you find your database requirements beginning to exceed the capabilities of your present file manager, I urge you to look closely at Paradox.

In software engineering, a design pattern is a general reusable solution to a commonly occurring problem in software design. A design pattern is not a finished design that can be transformed directly into code. It is a description or template for how to solve a problem that can be used in many different situations. Object-oriented design patterns typically show relationships and interactions between classes or objects, without specifying the final application classes or objects that are involved.

Design patterns reside in the domain of modules and interconnections. At a higher level there are architectural patterns that are larger in scope, usually describing an overall pattern followed by an entire system.

When applied to a database, the active record pattern is a design pattern found in software that stores its data in relational databases. It was named by Martin Fowler in his 2003 book Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture. The interface to such an object would include functions such as Insert, Update, and Delete, plus properties that correspond more or less directly to the columns in the underlying database table.

Active record is an approach to accessing data in a database. A database table or view is wrapped into a class. Thus, an object instance is tied to a single row in the table. After creation of an object, a new row is added to the table upon save. Any object loaded gets its information from the database. When an object is updated the corresponding row in the table is also updated. The wrapper class implements accessor methods or properties for each column in the table or view.

This pattern is commonly used by object persistence tools, and in object-relational mapping. Typically, foreign key relationships will be exposed as an object instance of the appropriate type via a property.
